Questions and answers

Direct answers to what people ask when planning a wedding, quinceañera, baptism or family photo session in Florida.

Choosing a photographer

How do I choose a wedding photographer in Florida?

Look at full galleries, not only highlights; confirm they have experience with your kind of event and your venue; ask for a written contract with a delivery date; and make sure you can talk in the language you are most comfortable in. Ocaso Visual works in English and Spanish and writes the delivery date into the contract.

What is documentary wedding photography?

It records what happens without directing poses: the nerves, the ceremony, the families, the party. Couple and family portraits are planned separately, calmly, so they still look natural.

How far ahead should I book?

The most requested dates fill months ahead, so it helps to write as soon as you have a date and a venue. With Ocaso Visual you can check your date through the form and we reply by email.

Is it better to hire photo and film from the same studio?

It is usually simpler: one proposal, one contract and a team that coordinates during the day. Ocaso Visual offers photography and 4K film.

Price, contract and delivery

How much does a wedding photographer cost in Florida?

It depends on the hours of coverage, whether film, drone or an album are included, and the location. Ocaso Visual does not publish rates: we send a closed written proposal with everything included and no hidden charges.

What should a photographer’s contract include?

The hours of coverage, what you will receive and in what format, the delivery date, how payment works, the date-change or cancellation policy, and how the images may be used. Always ask for it in writing before you book.

How long does it take to receive the photographs?

With Ocaso Visual, between one and three months after the event, depending on what you book. The exact date is written into the contract, not left as “approximate”.

What should I prepare before the day?

A list of the family portraits that cannot be missed, the timeline with times and places, the contact of the venue coordinator, and someone you trust who can point out key guests.

Weather, light and permits in Florida

When does it rain in Florida and how does it affect photos?

Broadly, the rainy season runs from June to October, with short afternoon storms. Hurricane season is June 1 to November 30. Have an indoor backup and leave margin in the schedule.

What time of day has the best light for outdoor photos in Florida?

The first hours of the morning and the hour before sunset: the light is soft and the heat is lower. At midday the sun is harsh and it shows on faces.

Do I need a permit to take photos on a beach or in a park?

It depends on the place. Some require a permit or charge a fee for professional sessions: Miami Beach, for example, requires one, and Palm Beach County parks charge a fee. Always confirm with the venue’s administration; at Ocaso Visual we check it with you when you book.

Can a drone be used at a wedding in Florida?

For commercial use in the United States the pilot needs FAA certification (Part 107), and many parks, hotels and venues prohibit drones. That is why we confirm with the venue before planning drone footage.

Weddings

How many hours of coverage do I need for a wedding?

As a guide, six to eight hours cover the ceremony, portraits and reception; add time at the start if you want the getting-ready. Ocaso Visual’s proposal starts from your real timeline.

What does a wedding-day timeline usually look like?

Getting ready, first look or portraits, ceremony, family portraits, cocktail hour, reception entrance, toasts and dancing. Leave extra time between blocks so nothing feels rushed.

What if it rains on my wedding day?

Have an indoor space ready for the ceremony and for portraits. Light rain can give beautiful photographs; what matters is that your photographer knows the backup plan beforehand.

Do you cover weddings in English, Spanish or both?

Yes. Ocaso Visual works in English and Spanish and can coordinate with your family, your planner and the venue in whichever language you prefer.

Quinceañeras

What is a pre-quince session?

A photo session held before the party, with the quinceañera’s dress, in a place she chooses: a garden, the beach, a park. It gives calm, unhurried images and lets you meet the photographer before the big day.

Which moments should a quinceañera coverage not miss?

The entrance, the waltz, the toast, the religious ceremony if there is one, the whole family together, and any traditions of your own family. Tell us which ones matter so none is missed.

Do you provide both photography and film for the same quinceañera?

Yes. Ocaso Visual covers the party with documentary photography and cinematic 4K film, in a single proposal.

Baptisms, communions and family

Do you photograph baptisms and First Communions in churches?

Yes, discreetly and following each parish’s rules, which we coordinate in advance. We also take portraits of the children and the family.

Where can we do a family photo session in Florida?

Wherever you prefer: a beach, a park, a hotel or your home. We suggest the place and the time of day with the best light for the season.

What should we wear for a family photo session?

Colors that sit well together, without logos or very strong patterns, and comfortable clothes so the children can move. Aim for a shared palette rather than identical outfits.

How long does a family photo session last?

In general between one and two hours, depending on the children’s ages and the location. We agree it in writing in the proposal.
